EU competition regulators have warned Meta that they may impose temporary measures to stop it from blocking rival AI services on WhatsApp, as they investigate whether the company is abusing its dominant market position. The European Commission has formally charged Meta and is considering interim action to keep WhatsApp accessible to competing AI chatbots, arguing that Meta’s January policy allowing only Meta AI could cause irreparable harm to competition.
